Lighting Solution with Constant Current Driver

Posted - Tuesday, 1 November 2005

LED in arrays need Constant Current driving – for consistent driving current through each LED. Every LED will have its own voltage drop value, putting a resistor across each LED will not ensure the current through each LED in the array will be the same. Illumination and colour from each LED varies with its current; only with constant current driving will facilitate a constant current through each LED despite its own voltage drop or variations in the supply voltage.

The LineoLEDs lighting solution (show here) uses the 30mA DD233-MSOP8 4-Channel driver by Silicon Touch. With a compact MSOP08 package, the driver IC takes up only a very small pcb area.
