 Clover Display Ltd has release a new Positive Colour LCD which shows a colour pattern on a light grey colour background with the backlight on, and a dark color pattern with the backlight off.
As the colour of the pattern is also printed on the backplane or sandwiched a coloured film between the backplane and the backlight, the manufacturing cost and procedures are slightly above than the Negative Mode LCD, but significantly lower than a TFT LCD if the user does not need any full colour switching on a pattern
This mode overcomes the old method of printing a colour on the backplane underneath the transparent pattern to show a colour image (i.e. Negative Colour LCD); which will show no pattern when the backlight is switched off.
